Trash: The act of moving a card to its owner's trash pile.

Trashing is the term for moving a card from any play area to the discard pile of the player who owns that card. Trashing is a common effect in Android: Netrunner used for costs, effects, damage, etc.

Trashing is distinct from discarding, which only happens during the Discard Phase.

When on a card, trashing is represented by the Trash symbol. Its most common usages are for trash costs of assets/upgrades and as costs for paid abilities.

Trash: This symbol stands for trash. It is used as a self-referential trigger cost in a card text, such as "Trash: Draw 2 cards," which means "trash this card to draw 2 cards."
